The steppe eagle is a large carnivore bird living in grassland areas like vast,steppe etc. These eagle have brown upperparts and blackish flight feathers and tail. Female eagles of this family is bigger than the male ones. A interesting fact of this eagle family, they have a part called crop in its throat allowing it to store food for several hours before being moved to the stomach. They build their nest of twigs, old rags, long dry grasses etc high above the ground like on top of trees, bushes. These birds feed on corps of dead animals and also prey small mammals like rabbits, hares, moles, rodents etc. During breeding season female eagle lays 1-3 eggs in a clutch. These birds are spotted in Lumbini and other places of Nepal. These birds have lifespan up to 41 years.

Ospreys are large hawks living near by the sources of water like rivers, ponds, reservoirs, in nests made up of sticks, branches and grasses on poles, trees. Ospreys have brown on upper parts of body, white belly with dark patch at wrists, yellow eyes, dark bill and white feet, and long legs. Beside female ospreys are slightly larger than males and have darker patches on neck, both gender of this bird look similar. Live fish are their prime food but they also prey birds, snakes, squirrels, small alligators. Ospreys hover over water and dives into it with feet first to grab a fish and fly back to their nest. Ospreys have interesting fact about their toe which can be faced forward or backward which helps them to turn the fish to face forward while transporting it to their nest. Another interesting thing is to see, osprey shaking off water after a dive, when it comes out of water they flap their wings faster to dry off. The Tibetan Snowcock is a bird of pheasant family found in high-altitude regions of the Himalayan and the Tibetan Plateau of 3,700 - 5,800 m. These birds have grey head and neck with a white patch behind the eye, reddish legs and beaks. Both genders look similar. These birds feed on plants and its products like root, seeds, stems and berries. These birds breed near spring when female one lays 4 to 6 eggs in a clutch. They nest under bush on the wall of hills or under stones of rocky parts. They are seen in Khumbu of Nepal.

The Common Merganser is a fish-eating duck found across the world and Asian countries like Nepal, India, Japan, China, and Korea. Males are brighter than females. Male have greenish black head and back, red bill, dark eyes and feet and white body where are female ones differ with brown head and grayish body. These birds are capable of swimming, diving and flying. They feed on water animals like fish, amphibians, snails and other aquatic invertebrates. They live in banks of rivers, lakes, coasts in nests made up of bushes. Their breeding occurs from May to June each year when female lays around 10 eggs in a clutch. These birds live around 12 years. They are seen in Chitwan of Nepal.

Description:
The White rumped Vulture is a species of vulture and falls under large birds. This black feathered bird is white back and unfeathered neck, head. Lower back and rump are pure white and have brownish-black hooked bill. Both genders look similar. They have strong wings which helps them have long and circular flight high above the ground for preying. They build nest with sticks and green leaves on top of the big trees near the habitation of human for slaughtered or abandoned animals. They sometimes feed on human corpses as allowed by some religion. Like other scavenger birds, they reproduce slowly. Their breeding season falls near January when the female vulture lays an egg. Due to excess use of pesticides and other human influences their number is declining and is marked as endangered species. They are seen in Chitwan of Nepal.

These birds were once endangered due to their beautiful feathers that come during their breeding season. The bird grow long delicate curly feather on back during breeding season. Males and females birds look alike though male ones are little larger. They live in banks of water reservoirs like ponds, river side, and also grasslands, agricultural land. They feed by swallowing whole fish, frogs, crayfish, small reptiles, snakes, snails, small mammals, insects and small birds. During breeding season female bird lays a clutch consisting of 3 to 5 eggs. They are found to live 10 to 20 years though its lifespan is about 5 years. They are seen in Chitwan of Nepal.
