Description:
Rose-ringed parakeets (parrots) are exotic birds commonly seen in cages or freely on neighborhood as pet. These medium sized species of parrot are herbivores and found across different part of world such as Tunisia, Libya, Lebanon, Israel, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, India, Tehran, Iran, US etc. These birds are typically of green color and male ones are distinguished by a colored collar or ring around the neck or a stripe across the chin. They feed on berries, nuts, seeds, fruits, flowers, buds, vegetables, cereal grains, corn, vegetables etc. Though kept as pet, they are found in wild in places like woodland, farmland, forests. These birds are expected to have life span of 25 to 30 years. Female parrots lays eggs of about 3-4 in a clutch when they start pairing from September to December. They are seen in Kathmandu, Chitwan of Nepal.
